When the dog is caught, they go to the vet. Here they will be monitored and they get instantly flea and worm treatment, they are also vaccinated When the dog is in good condition they will be sterilized so they no longer care for offspring.

Other treatments that are needed are paid by us and carried our veterinarian A sterilization costs € 75.00 this includes monitoring, vaccination, deworming and flea treatment. After they have recovered from the surgery they returned to the district and the pack where they come.

Ticks

The staff of the Animal Shelter Bonaire found an abandonned dog in the drop off cage outside the  Shelter. A very sweet dog! She was called named her Ella.
There was one big problem with Ella…… She was covered with ticks. As you can see on the pictures, her ears were fully covered with those parasites.
Of course they gave her a bath and medication. Dogs can get very sick form those mean parasites and get tick disease. On Bonaire it is called Karpatten disease and dogs can actually die from this.
